Why PICME Registration is important?
Tamilnadu government launch the PICME portal for all pregnant women of the state where they can register themselves to get various government benefits. After Picme registration, you will 12 digit RCH ID that is called PICME Number. With the help of this Number, the Public Health Department and local nurses can track the health of the Expectant Mother during the ante-natal stage. In addition, the Tamilnadu government provides financial assistance up to Rs. 18,000 in installments to expectant mothers under the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme. PICME Number is also mandatory to get the birth certificate.
Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme
In addition to providing access to good healthcare during pregnancy, expectant mothers who are registered under PICME can be also eligible for the Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefits Scheme. The Dr. Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Scheme gives financial assistance from Rs. 12,000 to 18000 which is provided by the Tamil Nadu Government to only Pregnant Women.
- The first installment of Rs. 2000 with Rs 2000 Nutrition kits will be given to each and every pregnant woman before 12 weeks of pregnancy.
- The second installment of Rs. 2000 with Rs 2000 kind benefit of Nutrition kits will be given to the mother after After 4 months of pregnancy.
- The Third installment of Rs. 4000 will be given to the mother after delivery in Government/Local Body institutions.
- The fourth installment of Rs. 4000 will be given to the expectant mother on completion of the third dose of OPV/Rota/Pentavalent and 2 doses of IPV.
- The fifth installment of RS 200 will be given After completion of Measles-Rubella vaccination between the 9th and 12th months of their infants.
But for availing of the above benefits, registration is mandatory.

PICME Registration Process
Those Pregnant Women who want to get the PICME Number, then they must need to register themself through the online portal picme.tn.gov.in or offline process.
PICME Registration Offline
- People can contact any Seva centers nearby where the registration is done free of cost.
- Women can also register by directly calling the toll-free number 102.
- Visit the nearest government hospital and by connecting with the concerned authorities there.
- In the end, the applicant is also registered at village level CSC (Common Service Centres).
Online Registration Process
- Firstly visit the PICME official website – www.picme.tn.gov.in
- After that home page will open on your screen.
- On the home, you have to click the “Pre Registration by Public” option.
- After clicking, the Registration page will display on your screen.
- Now you have to fill in all the details asked like Name, Mobile Number, Address, Aadhar Number, etc.
- After this, you need to select the District, village, and Administrative Unit.
- Now, you need to choose the preferred time to visit the VHN (Village Health Nurse)
- After that, enter the email ID, mobile number, captcha code and click on the save option.
- Once your details are verified, a 12-digit identification number (PICME number) is sent to the email ID and mobile number.

How to Apply for a Birth Certificate
After registering on PICME Portal, you will get the RCH ID. Then, give this RCH ID to the concerned office which will make a birth certificate for your child. After that, you will collect your Birth Certificate from the office or they will send you the same at your address.
